The Waiting Light

Strike The Flint
The Horizon Is Black
Guard The Flame
I Am Looking
Before The Night
Could Seal The Harbor Shut
They Placed One Lamp Against The Window Glass
Rain Clawed The Roof And Blurred The Distant Bay
Snow Veiled The Shore Until The World Turned White
Some Nights Brought Only Waves Against The Stone
No Mast Appeared;
No Sail Disturbed The Dark
Still, Every Evening, Careful Hands Returned
The Night Never Found That Window Empty
We Cannot Calm The Sea From Here
But We Can Make Our Hope Remain Visible
